Fred
is an active athlete always striving to better his performance. When he
heard about "Open Breathing" he called, asking, "What will this do for
me?" Gail Darwin, Certified Transformational Facilitator said "Anyone
who opens their breathing mechanism so that there is a greater flow of
oxygen and subsequent life force energy will experience a change in their
life." Fred's inner prompting was suggesting to him that perhaps 'this
breathing' would enhance his sports career. After attending the introductory
workshop he was aware that a profound shift had occurred within himself.
His question of "How does this stuff work?" now replaced with "Wow, how
wonderful I feel, and just from breathing!"
Many
people overlook their breath. Doesn't it happen automatically? Gail, when
asked this question, says, "the common way we control our experience when
unpleasant things are happening in our environment, is to slow down the
flow of life force energy through our body, so the experience doesn't
hurt so much. How do we do this, by slowing down our breathing? Yes! We
effect our aliveness with our breath. We may develop other habits as well,
but the telltale sign is shallower breathing. Continued over the years
we may develop a barely functioning breathing mechanism.
Gail
explains that what she does is jump-start the breathing so that the breathing
starts operating fuller and more freely. "Its not just about deep breathing,"
explains Gail, "we've developed habits of holding, storing, and blowing
the exhale." Our inhale has become weak. The end result is an inhale and
an exhale that is inefficient for proper body, mind, heart and soul functioning.
Without the free flow of life force energy in our body we set ourselves
up for disease.
Fred
has found that there is more focus and power in his golf game. He can
extend his running distances with ease. He has had a few private sessions
and has a once a week date with others for a Group Breathing Tuneup. And,
says Fred, "I can bicycle all weekend."
